Testing Teachers

Tonight I watched the first part of a new documentary on SBS called ‘Testing Teachers’. It’s about teachers new to the workforce and their experiences in difficult classrooms. The show was raw and showed the struggles and concerns that the teachers had. As a pre-service teacher with practical next semester, I have to admit it was quite terrifying to watch. One of the teachers said that she learnt something new about herself – “my ability to keep going, even when I feel like I am failing every day… I guess in that is hope that I am getting better.” I wonder how I’ll be as a teacher. I’m looking forward to watching the next part to the documentary.
